Iris masia naturally only grow in Serik, Antalya, in the cemetery of Yukarı Kocayatak town and between Antalya and Serik on the road side. The plant was introduced to the world of science by Adil Güner in 2012. In the ongoing studies in the region, no different distribution point has been determined yet.

The plant is included in conservation projects in the NGBB since its different distribution area cannot be identified and threatened. Samples produced from seeds obtained from rhizomes brought to NGBB by being collected from natural environment are exhibited in Arid and Saline Garden.

The developments regarding the protection of the bed henna plant are explained by the Director of the NGBB, Adil Güner:

"Within the scope of the conservation activities of the plant, firstly the area where it was distributed was visited and observations were made about the general characteristics of the area and the elements that could pose threats. In schools, it is planned to make informative presentations with various educational activities and to organize workshops for adults in the region.
